|  | Surfing | The Cape peninsula hosts one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town lies on the north side. A bustling city with a population of about 3 million, "The Mother City", is the capital of the Western Cape. Cape Town offers the most highly concentrated number of surf spots in South Africa. There are easily 49 spots within an hours drive of the city, depending on which secret spots you include.
The largest concentration of breaks is on the west side of the Peninsula facing the Atlantic Ocean. The remainder line the eastern coast line, which faces the Indian Ocean. The following list includes most of the breaks on the peninsula from the harbour wall to the north, down the Atlantic side, around Cape Point (about 65 kms from the city), up the east side to the seaside resort of Muizenberg and past, along the 40 km beach that stretches all the way from Muizenberg to Gordon's Bay.
